Samantha, lm cpm

Samantha Collins is a certified professional midwife, licensed in Minnesota (LM# 1090).

Sam’s philosophy towards birth and reproductive health care is rooted in autonomy and holistic well-being. She graduated from a MEAC accredited school, Birthwise, in 2021. As a CPM, she is an expert in out-of-hospital birth settings, and most of her training was completed within the home birth community.  Similar to a CNM, a CPM's focus is to help birthing people maintain healthy, low-risk pregnancies, provide evidence-based care, and honor physiological birth. A marked difference in their education is that a CPM's training goes deeper into alternative and holistic practices.

Samantha’s path of becoming a CPM started when her autonomy and reproductive rights were challenged within the medical system. From this experience, she was determined to find a health care provider who would listen to her, trust her ability to make decisions, and provide resources for her to achieve her health goals. After searching through many providers, she finally met a midwife who was able to provide this kind of compassionate care. From that moment, Samantha knew that she wanted to help advocate this kind of health care for others. Between that point and now, Samantha has worked as a doula, birth assistant, and midwife. Since 2016, she has attended mostly home births, which has provided her with many skills and a deep trust in one’s ability to birth naturally.  In addition, Samantha has a vast knowledge of alternative medicine, as she has learned from functional medicine providers, naturopathic doctors, chiropractors, and herbalists.   This has provided her with a decade of experience in coaching others on nutrition and holistic lifestyle, reduction of environmental exposures, and botanical medicine. She is passionate about creating opportunities for others to access this kind of knowledge.

Being a midwife at Willow allows her to bring these holistic influences to our community. Samantha is eager to meet you all and be a part of your care.

When she is not a midwife, she can be found outside finding some sunshine, foraging wild plants, dancing in the kitchen, and laughing with family.
