Nora Simani

Since she can remember, Nora has always had an interest in birth and becoming a midwife. Growing up she knew that her family came from a long line of spiritual and medicinal healers from nurses, to doctors, to midwives, etc. She felt that she was naturally called towards midwifery and the healthy pregnant population.

She set off to become a nurse and attended school at Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin. Here she became involved in different associations, finding join in mentoring her peers and exploring the cross over between nursing and health policy. She soon became president of both the local and state chapters of the Student Nurses Association of Wisconsin. After getting the opportunity to attend the national conference of student nurses, Nora really solidified her passion for healthcare policy. Upon graduation from her nursing program, she was awarded the 2023 Wisconsin Future Nurse Leader Award and was offered a spot on the public policy council for the Wisconsin Nurses Association.

After obtaining her bachelor’s of science in nursing, she decided to follow her dream to become a midwife! Currently, Nora is a student midwife at the University of Minnesota studying to obtain her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Nurse Midwifery. She hopes that her DNP degree will help her lead change in the field of midwifery. Her dream is to continue to support the physiologic process of birth, encouraging those who may not believe in the capability of their amazing bodies!

For fun Nora enjoys exploring the great state of Minnesota, jumping in lakes, and attending weekly yoga classes through the University. She has also been playing guitar for more than a decade and enjoys playing with others who enjoy it too!
